Giovanni Baccellieri takes victory at BIKC 2015

BIKC 2015Today, the Belgian Indoor Karting Championship edition 2015 had place at First Kart ‘Inn (FKI) (Machelen, Brussels, Belgium). For a few months already a lot of drivers were looking forward to this event. During all races PGK-Z shifter karts were used. An unique experience that a lot of drivers wanted to try out. Moreover an experience that’s certainly a training for those who are participating the Kart World Championship 2015 in Italy. There also, the PGK-Z karts will be used during the event.

The BIKC is the official qualifier for the KWC where the winners go home with a free entry.
(Earlier this year we already had the Dutch, the British and the Spanish qualifier. More are coming the following months!)

Traditionally the BIKC-weekend exists out of different ‘subevents’. You have the training sessions, accessible to anyone. There is the ‘Champ of Champs’ race, in which different ‘nations’ battle each other. This race is only for the few lucky ones that get selected for it based on results during other championships. And of course, the BIKC itself, consisting out of 2 classes; junior and senior.
The most important one is, off course, the senior class.

Before the start of the final a group picture was taken of all drivers who made it to the final.

The final winner of the BIKC was Giovanni Baccellieri who drove an excellent championship. Baccellieri already was the winner in 2014 and is able to succeed himself with his second victory.

Second place on the stage was for Arnaud Teuwen and the third place for Ruben Boutens

There are also other interesting facts we can share about the weekend.
The trainingssessions were very popular because it was the first time people could driver these shifter karts in Belgium. 25 karts, accompanied with an army of marshalls came specially from Italy. A lot of drivers entered the trainingsessions, even drivers that were not participating the BIKC. The shifter karts are totally new to everybody and you could see some people had more issues then others to adjust to them.

The BIKC junior championship had a smaller attendance compared to the seniors, but it was more then enough for exciting races. The top three was clearly better with Giovanni Baccellieri taking the first place, Rico Haarbosch on second place en Ayrton Walczak on third place.

The ‘Champ of Champs’ race on Saturday had, once again a very international entrylist. A bit sad though that some countries couldn’t be there (like the UK).
In the end it was the Netherlands that took victory with drivers Ruben Boutens and Rico Haarbosch. Belgium took second place with Filipe Vieira and Giovanni Baccellieri, before Germany with Marc Schings en Lukas Withake.
