Régis Gosselin door RACB verkozen voor RX Lites
As the countdown is underway for the first round, this year, RX Lites, Mettet Motor and Royal Automobil Club of Belgium (RACB) have joined forces to enable a young Belgian talent to participate at the steer of an RX Lites at MettetRX, 3rd Round of 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy.
Nearly 175 young Belgians have applied and show some interest in rallycross in the country. After the first selection phase, 20 candidates were selected to spend a karting test in Francorchamps. From this selection, six drivers were able to show their skills at the wheel of a Ford R2 and a jury of experts chose Régis Gosselin.
The 23 year old driver will have the chance to represent Belgium in RX Lites races taking place on the Kapaza MettetRX weekend on 14 and 15 May at the Circuit Jules Tacheny in Mettet.
Regis was attracted to racing at a young age in the footsteps of his grandfather Gustave Gosselin. He has won the 24 Hours of Spa with Robert Crevits (1964) and finished 2nd 24h of Le Mans in 1965 with Pierre Dumay, behind the other Ferrari 250 LM Gregory Masten and Jochen Rindt.
Early on, Régis Gosselin experienced karting and specialized in 4-stroke engines. He was able to acquire a clean driving. In 2014, he won the Clio Cup Young Talent Challenge. He was able to participate in rounds of Eurocup Clio Benelux where he earned the title of Club Champion Clio Belgium (Benelux 5th). In 2015, he finished second of the 24h of Zolder with Bas Leinders.
“I am very happy to have won this flying RX Lites Talent Search, supported by RACB. Rallycross is a discipline that combines adrenaline and show. These cars are made for this race format. RX Lites already has a 320 horsepower engine and it will be great to drive.
When we met in the last six qualified, I had some fears because we all knew very well and I know the experience of Gino Bux. So I took this last test as a new experience and I did not put pressure. I especially had a little experience in circuit and on gravel. We had five rounds to lead us and then five timed laps. At the exit of the car, Gino and my pilot friends have told me that I had slammed a time!
I am eager to discover the track of Mettet, with the alternation of soil and asphalt. I want to take full advantage of that May weekend. This is an exceptional opportunity to show what I’m capable of. ”
RX Lites 2016 season will kick off in Hockenheim on the first weekend of May where WorldRX and DTM will have joint schedules. Only a week after, teams and drivers will move to Mettet Belgium for the 2nd round of the series. RX Lites will be visiting both venues for the first time.

Wij kennen Régis Gosselin natuurlijk uit het indoorkarten. Hij reed enkele jaren terug veel op FKI, deed Belkart mee (en werd kampioen), en is sindsdien nog steeds vaak terug te vinden op allerhande races en kampioenschappen in bv. Spa, Eupen en FKI.
Daarnaast heeft hij ook al allerlei ervaring opgedaan in de autosport (verschillende klasses), waar hij een carrière voor zichzelf probeert uit te bouwen.
